Some Problems With Buffy the Vampire Slayer Part II
Significant relationships are difficult things. Or so I am told, seeing as I have never had a girlfriend (let me reflect for awhile on that ... okay, I'm done). You open yourself to someone else, and if that trust is broken, it can be traumatic. The problem with relationships in the Buffyverse is that relationships are broken simply to add more drama. This is a fairly standard tool for writers to try and jerk some heartstrings, but Whedon goes a step beyond, and the way he destroys relationship and the aftermath simply brings my blood to a boil.
